RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A local radio and television legend has died in an afternoon car crash on I-220.

Ridgeland Police Sgt. Tony Willridge says 93-year-old Jobie Martin was killed in a four vehicle accident. He was the former host of the Jobie Martin Show on WLBT and past owner of a fried chicken restaurant.

Around 2:15 p.m. police were called to the accident scene on I-220 near Hanging Moss. Investigators say Martin was traveling north bound in the south bound lane. His beige Lincoln Town car first struck a red Camaro head on, then a black vehicle and possibly clipped another black vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed Martin entered the Hanging Moss on ramp of I-220 and traveled up to three hundred yards before the head on collision.

The sole occupant of the Camaro was transported to UMC and is listed in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported.
