Daylight revealed the destruction brought on by Tuesday night's storm. Vulnerable trees proved no match for the strong winds produced by the storm.
One home at 1203 Woody Rd., off McDowell Rd. in south Jackson, lost two trees. Steven McDaniel who lives at the home said he could not believe the power of the storm.
"I was actually tracking the storm on WLBT's website," McDaniel said. "I'm surprised it did this much damage in such little time."
At about 8 p.m. Tuesday, two 40-year-old trees standing 40 feet each collapsed in the front yard. The second one falling 30 minutes after the first one.
Remarkably, the trees took out nothing more than power lines, with neither falling into the three-person home.
"Kind of strange, because when I left it wasn't like this of course and to see all the lines down and things happened so quick," McDaniel said. "You feel rather blessed."
Jackson public service crews were tasked with cleaning up the mess and Entergy restored power to the area.
