Victims identified in Sunday morning plane crash

MCCOMB, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Pike County Coroner Percy Pittman identified the victims as pilot 52-year-old Dr. Taylor Pickett and his wife 22 year old Laura Ballard Pickett of Summit and his sister-in-law 29-year-old Jacquelyn Nicole Ham of Meadville.

Federal Aviation Administration officials combed through the wreckage of the plane that plowed into trees and burned in a densely wooded area.

Officials say the aircraft is a 1970's model Cessna 310R Twin Engine Propeller. The private plane left New Orleans at 4:07 a.m. and was en route to McComb. It crashed roughly four miles before reaching the McComb-Pike County Airport.

WLBT has learned that Dr. Pickett was a thoracic surgeon at Lufkin's Memorial Hospital in Lufkin, Texas.
