An autopsy will likely be performed Monday on a body pulled from a Simpson County pond.
The discovery was made Saturday off New Hope Road and Highway 49 about five miles north of Mount Olive.
Saturday afternoon the Simpson County Sheriff's Department got a call from an antique store owner who noticed tire tracks leading to the pond on his property. Rankin County Sheriff's divers were called in to inspect the area.
The body of Jermie Pittman was found inside a black SUV at the bottom of the pond. Deputies had been searching for the 31-year-old after he went missing late Wednesday night. A number of bullet shell casings were also found on scene.
"We have three people of interest we're fixing to go see and hopefully we're already on top of the killer," said Sheriff Kenneth Lewis, Simpson County Sheriff's Department.
"They didn't have to take my child's life. They could have beat him up and let him come home or whatever, but they didn't have to do him like this. But the person who done it, I don't know who it is, but they need to pay," said Pittman's mother, Theresa Payne.
Payne says Pittman worked as a car detailer and was a well-known rapper in Magee. He was her only son.
