TERRY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Many of people have owned a car that was our favorite and at some point wished they had it back, completely restored like new.

Robert Jordan of Terry is the proud owner of an 1967 Chevrolet Camaro, he originally bought nearly 45-years ago.

The 65 year old retired Jackson homicide detective, has all the paper work to prove he bought this car brand new from Dumas Milner Chevrolet in Jackson in February of 1967.

Jordan went on his honeymoon in it, with his wife, Carol, in October of 1968.

When they started raising a family, they decided it was too small and sold it in 1973 for $1,000.

It had cost $3,100 new.

On February 28th, Jordan got a call from a man in Ohio telling him he had found the car in Indiana.

To make a long story short Robert went to Indiana and bought the fully restored car back for $22,000.

Jordan knows it was the right thing to do.

"It's like seeing an old friend again," Jordan said. "And as I told you a little while ago, I got rid of it one time, but I won't do it again. It's like a old dog that you had lost, coming home."

Robert's wife, Carol, also believes it was right to get the car back.

"He couldn't believe it, he couldn't believe it after all that time that car had come home," Carol Jordan said.

Robert insisted that I drive the car with four in the floor.

It didn't take much convincing.

So Robert let me drive his old car which he bought back for another $21,000.

He had sold it in 1973 for $1,000.

It drives great.
