Couple arrested with crack and 3-year-old child

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A south Jackson couple was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with possession of crack cocaine.

While making the arrest, Hinds County Narcotics Deputies found the couple's 3-year-old son in the back seat of their car.

The arrested couple have been identified as Bernard Mack, 44, and Tracy Hurst, 35. The child was sent away with a relative.

Deputies say Mack tried to swallow some of the drugs to destroy some of the evidence.

"This individual is being taken to the Hinds County jail where he will be watched by our medical staff," said Lieutenant Jeff Scott.

The crack was valued at $100.
