CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
A July 1 court date has been set for a teenager accused of bringing a gun on campus at Clinton High School.
Demontez Anderson, 17, is charged with felony possession of a gun on school property.
Anderson was released Monday from jail after posting $5,000 bond.
Clinton Police Chief Don Byington says the teen reportedly brought the gun on campus because he was having a running argument with a girlfriend and another student.
School officials learned as a result of the fight that Anderson claimed to have a gun in his car.
Possession of a gun on school property calls for automatic expulsion from the district.
