Pipe break fills Pearl streets with water

Posted: Updated:
PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Some folks in a Pearl neighborhood were hot under the collar Wednesday morning after their water was cut off. It all started with a broken sewer line.

Gallons of water flooded a two block radius. A WLBT viewer took pictures on Avis Street of the water main leak. The mini-geyser erupted for hours. Residents say they made several calls to the city, then called Three on Your Side for help.

The City of Pearl got the leak under control only after shutting off water service to the entire neighborhood. Residents tell us it's not the first time the 4-inch water main has flooded the area.

The underground pipes are decades old and made of a concrete mixture. Residents also complained that gutters are clogged and that contributed to the problem.
