Emergency crews were on the scene in Clinton after a large tornado tore through the area this morning. Seven people were hospitalized with injuries.
Eyewitnesses say they saw a large white funnel drop out of the sky around 11am. The twister tore the roof off a Bank Plus branch, and threw cars across the interstate.
I-20 was shut down near Springridge road where crushed vehicles and a overturned 18 wheeler were flipped over.
Traffic was shut down as crews were brought in to help clear the wreckage, and help at least one person who was injured.
Several nearby businesses also suffered damage, with roofs blown off and windows busted out.
Power is still out in much of the south business and residential areas.
The entrance to I-20 East is still blocked due to downed power lines.
