WARREN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) – Nearly a dozen families in Warren county are homeless after a fire destroyed their apartments.

Smoke could still be seen rising from the charred rubble Saturday.

Culkin Volunteer Fire Chief Jerry Briggs said 12 units of the Landings Apartment  Homes on Fairway Drive were destroyed.

The fire was reported shortly before four p.m. Friday.

It spread quickly through an entire unit.

Eleven of the 12 apartments were occupied.

Fire officials believe the blaze may have started on the third floor of the three level building.

Residents were evacuated before the fire overtook the unit.
