5th Circuit: No immunity for Lampton

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A federal appeals court panel has upheld a ruling that former U.S. Attorney Dunn Lampton does not have immunity from a lawsuit filed against him by former Mississippi Supreme Court Judge Oliver Diaz Jr.

Diaz and his wife, Jennifer, had accused Lampton of invading their privacy and disclosing confidential information.

A panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans on Tuesday sided with U.S. District Judge Daniel Jordan, who ruled against Lampton's motion to dismiss the lawsuit in 2010. Lampton claimed he had immunity from such lawsuits.
