JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Four people injured in a violent accident in front of a Jackson high school Thursday will survive, according to medical officials. An official with the University of Mississippi Medical Center reported that the conditions of two of the victims were upgraded overnight, while two others were treated and released from the hospital.

The injuries stem from a three-car accident in front of Callaway High School on Beasley Road Thursday afternoon. Joshua Thurmond, who was driving a Mitsubishi SUV involved in the accident, died at the scene.

According to UMMC, Shabritani Vanburen, 18, is in fair condition and Annette Rhymes, 59, is in good condition. Annette Thurmond, 51, and Jessica Manning, 19, were treated and released.

Jackson Police spokeswoman Colendula Green said Joshua Thurmond was driving his SUV carrying his mother, Annette Thurmond, and sister, Manning. Annette Thurmond told police her son had a seizure causing the vehicle to run a stop sign and careen into oncoming traffic.

A witness said the SUV collided with a Toyota Camry driven by Vanburen. The force of the impact sent the Toyota airborne landing on a Ford Contour driven by Rhymes.
