At the Spencer Perkins Center on Robinson Road, gospel music filled the air. Children collected brightly colored eggs filled with candy and enjoyed other sweet treats. The Perkins Center is a non profit organization offering after school programs for children.
Organizers hope the first "Easter Bash' will help raise money to sponsor a trip to New York City for 18 children. It was an idea born from a nine year old's journal entry.
"He said if I could go anywhere in the world I would go to New York. So we started to think about how we could engage our children to get a chance to go to New York," said John Perkins, the Director of the Spencer Perkins Center.
The New York City trip is planned for the end of May.
