LINCOLN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The northbound lanes of I-55 in Lincoln County have reopened after being shut down for nearly 24 hours following an 18 wheeler crash.

The accident occurred around 3:00 p.m. Friday between the Lake Dixie Springs and Bogue Chitto Exits.

The interstate re-opened around one o'clock Saturday afternoon.

The tractor trailer ran off the interstate and landed on its side.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol reported that an SUV quickly merged in front of the truck where the interstate narrows to one lane for construction.

The 18 wheeler then hit the SUV.

Officials said the driver of the tractor trailer, Joseph Condello of Florida, was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The SUV driver, Charles Armstrong, was not seriously injured.
