Byram is a young growing city in Hinds County.
The residents in Byram fought for years to be an incorporated city.
Part of the responsibilities of city government is to provide police protections for its citizens.
Byram had a commitment to start 24 hour police protection in June.
Police radios are literally lifelines to provide that protection.
Apparently telephones, cell phones, fax machines, email and all the communication technology just in the world isn't enough for the Hinds County Supervisors and the City of Byram to communicate with each other.
Now Byram has two sets of radios, one bought by the city and one bought by Hinds County.
What we have here is more than just a failure to communicate.
Something just doesn't pass the smell test with the purchase of these radios.
