Dozens of local volunteers have been called out to the line of duty to help tornado victims out. Red Cross volunteers spent much of the day in various parts of the state assisting individuals impacted by Wednesday's rash of tornados. Assessing damage across the state was the first plan of action for many of the volunteers.
Tamica Smith Jeuitt, the Public Affairs director for the Red Cross says, "we're moving statewide, we have Red Cross of Mississippi as a region, so we have maybe 100 volunteers who are on standby for this latest round of storms who will be responding to those communities."
The Salvation Army is also helping tornado victims out. Salvation Army crews sent relief teams to Oxford, Mississippi and Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
