Diamond Jacks Casino prepares for Mississippi River levels to rise

A Vicksburg casino was making some changes Sunday to prepare for the rising Mississippi River levels.

Crane operators spent the entire morning raising the Diamond Jacks casino barge. It sits in a controlled pool of water surrounded by a concrete coffer next to the Mississippi River.

Because the river levels are expected to rise above the coffer levels, casino officials said raising the barge's elevation will allow it to safely rise as river levels increase.

Diamond Jacks will remain open.
