Sunny Again, but rivers are still rising

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The benefit of high pressure dominating our weather pattern will still hold true to form for today; so no threat of any rain in the forecast.

This is welcomed news considering our great concerns for flooding along the Mississippi River over the next few weeks in a row. The record breaking levels may be seen as soon at the 17th of this month.

Heavy snow melt upstream along with flooding in several states including Missouri, Illinois and Arkansas has complicated the recovery efforts from the storms of late and now the threat of flooding.

The 'lack' of rain is helpful in that it won't make a bad situation worse. However we'll eventually see some showers move into our area.

Our next round of rain is expected to move in by Wednesday of next week; until them we have a reprieve.
