MERIDIAN, MS (WLBT) - Nearly a month after Meridian superstar Rodney Hood signed on with Mississippi State, Hood's teammate Sidney Coleman also decided to remain in state but at a different location.
"I have decided to further my education and athletic career at Jackson State University. It's close to home, I'll be between Baton Rouge where my mom lives and Meridian where most of my family lives and I felt a good family atmosphere when I went there," said Coleman.
"I think he's going to do great things there but on top of that I think they're getting a great kid, he's a high character kid I think he's going to come to work everyday and he's going to be a quality student as well," said Meridian Head Coach Randy Bolden.
Joining Coleman at JSU will be Meridian Community College swing man Emmanuel Donald.
The 6-5 swing man who averaged 19 points per game should step right in and fill the void left by a trio of JSU seniors.
"I chose Jackson State because I felt it's a best fit for me education wise and athletic wise. I was familiar with the coach and the players so that's why I chose Jackson State," said Donald.
"We're extremely proud of Emmanuel Donald having the opportunity to play D-1 basketball in particular play here in state at Jackson State University. Emmanuel is an outstanding shooter, great defender and he's going to bring a lot to the program at Jackson State," said Meridian C.C. Head Coach Hilary Allen.
