Possible Rain In the Forecast Can Have a Double Effect

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The dry weather pattern will continue for today; after we shake off some early morning fog. Highs will rise above the norm for this time of the year, and winds moving out of the south at 10-15 mph.

Overnight the clear skies will allow the temps to drop into the upper 60s and we'll bounce right back to the 90s again for tomorrow.

Thanks to the dry weather the pollen count is slightly higher for today, but with a chance of rain by Friday, early pollen forecast indicate lower levels going into the weekend.

The chance of rain may help with the pollen count, but may delay our recovery from the possible flooding along the Mississippi River. The earliest crest is still expected on next Monday in Greenville at a height of 64.5'.

Next Thursday (May 19th) we're still targeting the Vicksburg site to crest at 57.5' and in Natchez a high of 64.0' expected on the 21st.

Our chances of rain over the weekend may have a slight effect on those crest dates and heights if the rains stick around a little longer than expected. We'll keep you informed hour by hour on WLBT-TV3 with constant crawls of information along the bottom of our screen during the newscasts as well as on WLBT.COM, twitter, and Facebook.
