STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Former Mississippi State pitcher Forrest Moore has sued the university and coach John Cohen, claiming that overuse and negligence by the coaching staff contributed to an elbow injury.
The lawsuit claims Cohen tried to "drive Mr. Moore away from baseball" at MSU and that the coach broke NCAA rules by exceeding practice time limits. MSU associate athletic director Mike Nemeth is also named in the complaint.
Cohen tells The Associated Press he is aware of the lawsuit, but has no comment. Mississippi State is playing Mississippi in a 3-game series this weekend in Oxford, Miss.
Moore, who is from Baton Rouge, La., played for the Bulldogs for two seasons from 2007 to '09. He is being represented by Oxford-based attorney J. Douglas Foster.
