The rising Mississippi overtakes roadways in the River City while also taking its toll on the economy.
In Vicksburg alone, three of five casinos have stopped operating and more than 26 roads have closed.
Officials with the police department said over 600 families have been displaced by the flooding.
The closure of portions of Highway 61 North is causing truckers and motorists to detour which also affects business in the city.
"More than 45 companies are either being threatened or have already been closed as a result of the flood waters. We have a lot of people that are not working and obviously when that happens that has a drastic affect on the entire community," Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong.
Highway 61 leads to Highway 3 in Yazoo county, drivers who normally travel that route will now have to detour to Highway 49.
