JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Governor Haley Barbour activated the Mississippi National Guard and Air National Guard to assist counties threatened by The Great Flood of 2011.
The guard will support county and state agencies in Warren, Yazoo, Humphreys, Issaquena, and Sharkey Counties.
About 180 guardsmen are in place to provide assistance in conducting search and rescue operations in the affected areas.
Guardsmen are also supporting northern and southern counties with flood reconnaissance assistance as well.
