Warren Co. Sheriff Deputies patrol flood victims' neighborhoods

Posted: Updated:

The Warren County Sheriff's Department is patrolling flooded neighborhoods this week in and around Vicksburg.

Sheriff Pace spent Monday morning on Pittman Road, escorting Cornelius Johnson to his home, which is flooded.

Last week we visited Johnson's home which was completely dry.

It's now an island.

"Down in the basement got about 18 inches of water in it," Johnson says.

Off Hartley Road, Debra Emery's home was damaged by floodwaters overnight.

A homemade dirt moat around her house failed Sunday night, sending in the floodwaters.

"Yes we come back, just build it up high off the ground, and hope this never happens again," Emery says.

Several residents in the area tried to raise their trailers before the flood came in, but it's not going to be high enough.

Monday the flood surpassed the old record of 56.2 feet.

It's still expected to crest Thursday at 57.5 feet.
