3rd person arrested in Rankin Co. lawn care fraud case

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A third person has been arrested and charged in a lawn care fraud case involving the Rankin County School District.

Joseph Baker, Jr. an employee of Taz Enterprises registered in Georgia, was booked May 12 into the Rankin County Jail.

Baker was arrested in Virginia in April.

He is charged with creating false invoices for pine straw that was never provided to the school district by Sanders Lawn Service.

The owners of Sanders Lawn Service, Dolister and Malcolm Sanders of Clinton, were charged with submitting invoices for $80,000 worth of lawn care materials in April.

The couple had been under contract with the Rankin County School District since July 2005.
