ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - The University of Alaska Anchorage will play Southern Mississippi in the first round of the 2011 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.
UAA athletic director Steve Cobb says other opening round matchups in the men's field announced Wednesday will be Murray State vs. UC Irvine, San Francisco vs. Central Michigan and New Mexico State vs. Dartmouth.
Cobb says 3 of 4 teams are set for the women's tournament: host Alaska-Anchorage, Miami of Florida and South Florida. Anchorage native Sylvia Bullock currently plays for Miami.
The tournament is scheduled for Nov. 22-26.
The Shootout is the longest-running regular-season college basketball tournament in the nation. It's been held every Thanksgiving week in Anchorage since 1978.
