Deadbeat Dad on 'Most Wanted' List

Some positive results have come out of a story WLBT reported to you last week.

Lisa Bolton of Brandon says for the past 13 years, she has been looking for a man who owes her about $27,000 in child support payments. Bolton says she hasn't seen Michael Dunn since 1991 when they first went to court. The mother of one says Dunn is a radiology tech who seems to keep changing jobs to avoid garnishment.

On Thursday, Bolton received a letter from the Mississippi Department of Human Services informing her that Dunn will be on the department's "Ten Most Wanted" list of deadbeat parents if she signs an affidavit. Bolton says if she hadn't gone public with her case, she doesn't believe this would have happened.

"WLBT has definitely called attention to the situation not only for myself but for others in the area," said Bolton.

MDHS officials say their ten most wanted list is a location tool for hard-to-find non-custodial parents who have a court order against them. They also say they must get permission from the custodial parent of a child to release information on the non-custodial parent. MDHS adds that case workers from Mississippi's 82 counties can nominate dead beat parents to the list.
