Stolen, weapon-laden truck found

Posted: Updated:

The weapon-laden pickup truck stolen Friday from the parking lot of the Home Depot in Jackson has now been found.

But the weapons are gone.

A Hinds County Sheriff's Deputy spotted the truck at Stonewall Street near Marion Dunbar Street around 8:00 Saturday morning. A witness tells our crew the truck sat there all night long.

It's a Mississippi Bureau of Investigation vehicle, a black Ford F-150. The passenger side window is smashed. Jackson Police say the offender jimmied the combination lock open to gain access to the vehicle at the Home Depot on I-55 around 3:00 p.m. Friday.

A jaw-dropping list of weapons and law enforcement property were lifted from the abandoned truck. "A 357 Glock, an AR-15, a Colt 45, a 12-gage shotgun, over 500 rounds of ammunition along with magazines that were filled. A camera, a radio, other items, along with two (bullet proof) vests that are still out there," says Jackson Police spokeswoman Colendula Green. She adds that the items cannot be sold to a pawn shop, but they can be used.

Police say two men drove into the parking lot in a black or dark green Pontiac Grand Am. We're told police collected a drivers license from stonewall street this morning, possibly dropped by one of the offenders. If you have any information on their whereabouts, call Jackson Police at 601-960-1234.
