Crews continue to work to fortify the Main Line Levee in Warren County.

Dump trucks were hauling sand to a stretch of the levee near Eagle Lake.

Tractors, then plow and pack the material to fill the gaps where water has seeped through.

Mississippi Levee Board officials say sand boils causing a 300 to 400 foot long slide were noticed Monday.

Crews got to work Wednesday repairing the weak section of the levee by pouring in thousands of tons of rock and sand.

"They are putting a ring of rock, a dike put around there, filling the center with sand," said Lt. Col. Greg Raimondo with the Army Corps of Engineers. "Right now what is going to go on for the next few days they are going to finish putting in the additional 3,000 tons of sand."

The work is expected to be completed Wednesday.
