A number of up and coming entrepreneur's are preparing for a competition at the Jackson Convention Complex. The competition is called the "New Venture Challenge."
This will be the fourth year that officials from the Mississippi Technology Alliance have hosted the event. The challenge allows forty groups of budding entrepreneur's to pitch their business plans to successful investors and other professionals. Participants will compete for cash prizes. Additionally, some participants may have the chance to get their business plans funded.
Tasha Bibb, the entrepreneurial development manager for the Mississippi Technology Alliance says, "it's actually a worthwhile experience, prior to the competition, companies are mentored, so they're able to get some one on one attention with some serial entrepreneurs and investors in order to polish their pitches in order to get some financial investment from the investors later."
The New Venture Challenge kicks off at 1:00PM and ends at 4:30PM. The competition is free and open to the public to watch.
