Rest areas to reopen

Posted: Updated:

The Mississippi Department of Transportation says work is just about complete on several rest areas in Central Mississippi which are being renovated.

Melinda McGrath, Interim Executive Director of the Department of Transportation says her agency got $12 million dollar in stimulus money it didn't expect to get and is using some of it for the upgrades to rest areas in Holmes County at Morton, Forest and two in Copiah County, north of Wesson.

Those areas have been closed since January of 2010.

One of the most obvious upgrades is landscaping.
