North Mississippi inmate escapes work detail

LEE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The search continues for a North Mississippi inmate who walked off work detail early Sunday morning.

The Lee County Sheriff's Department said 36-year-old Michael Wayne Young was part of a work detail assigned to the loading dock.  It's located outside the sheriff's department complex.

Young had been imprisoned on narcotics charges but now faces escape charges as well.

Sheriff Jim Johnson said Young is not considered a violent inmate.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact the Lee County Sheriff's Department or Cimestoppers.
