Wednesday's Child - Zymir

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

He demands attention with his big smile and curiosity. 10 year old Zymir is full of questions. He wants to be a firefighter when he grows up and a trip to the Jackson Fire Department Downtown was the thrill of a lifetime for him. The only thing that would make him more excited is to find his forever family.

From the moment he walked into the fire department Zymir was captivated by the men and women in uniform, the trucks, and the equipment.

"Out of all the jobs that you saw at the fire department what is the job that you like the best? Spraying the water hose and riding in the fire truck", said Zymir.

Zymir quickly took control, informing all of us that he wanted to take over as fire chief.

"I would save you", Zymir said.

Getting the chance to see the equipment firefighters use was fascinating for Zymir. He learned how the firemen set up the hoses, and the proper way to hold on to the hose when fighting a fire. It took more strength than he realized to work with the jaws of life.

"This is what we use to get in cars, when somebody is in a wreck. They're heavy. Real heavy. Real heavy", firefighters explained.

When Zymir boarded the fire truck for a ride he could barely contain himself. He says this is a ride of a life time. Zymir is also sensitive. He says he has seen some bad things but he tries to stay positive.

"Hello chief. How you doing?"

Zymir will benefit from a two parent forever family. He will also need an active male figure who will be involved and keep him involved in activities.

"I would like to have a special family. Special in what way? They know how to play baseball or football. Baseball and football. And they have to be kind? A special family."

Zymir says he wants to be close to his forever family and he's hoping they will find him soon.
