Straight line winds cause damage for town of Hazlehurst

COPIAH COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Straight line winds moved through Copiah County causing damage throughout the town of Hazlehurst.

Trees were toppled and power was knocked out in the areas of Highway 28 and West Gallatin Street.

According to Entergy Mississippi's website, 643 customers are currently without power.

A tree fell on the roof of a house on West Gallatin Street causing minor damage.

According to Hazlehurst Police, winds ripped off part of the roof of the Western Inn Express on Highway 28.

A number of power lines are down as well as four or more trees.

Copiah County Emergency Management officers tell us all roads have now been cleared of debris.
