Crossing over ceremony for scouts

PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A major milestone for a group of Boy Scouts Friday night. Four Cub Scouts with Troop 51 at Pearl Street AME Church and one scout participated in a Crossing Over Ceremony.

The cub scouts are elevated to the status of boy scout. Volunteers say Troop 51 was established in 1932 and is the oldest, continuously run, African American boy scout troop in the state.

Organizers of Friday night's program say boy scouts need responsible adults and college students who want to make a difference in the lives of boys through scouting, which teaches leadership skills, teamwork, and success.
