Hamstock BBQ Fest and Fundraiser

RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

It's billed as ten hours of pork, love and music, and it all happened Saturday in downtown Ridgeland.

Hamstock 2011 is a barbeque competition and music festival.

The free event offered live music throughout the evening.

Barbeque fans sampled tasty offerings while strolling the historic Jackson Street District.

Amateurs and professionals worked the grills to serve up their best recipes for bragging rights and cash and prizes in the MBN certified competition.

All the food and fun benefited Adam's Project Inc.

"We are a sanctioned Memphis Barbeque Network contest in our third year and we've had a phenomenal turnout this year of 18 just world championship teams here, and you can hear we've got music going right now," said Hamstock Organizer Andy Cook.

"We are raising funds to build a fully handicapped accessible park at Freedom Ridge in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Adam's Project was first started because of our youngest son Adam Malone who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy," said Adam's father Drew Malone.

Hamstock festivities wrapped up Saturday at 10 p.m.
