YAZOO COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Yazoo County residents who evacuated last month due to flood water are making their way back home.

The Satartia bridge over the Yazoo River reopened Sunday allowing access to Satartia Road for the first time in several weeks.

Numerous acres of farmland remain under water.

Ross Nesbit returned to find his home filled with mud and debris.

"Depression comes and goes. You know, you think you're depressed a while and then you feel better then the next thing you know you begin thinking about your house. We've lived here for 30 years. It's like a member of the family.  We love this house.  We don't want to move, but we're scared to stay," said Nesbit.

About three feet of water entered his home.  As one of the few Satartia residents with flood insurance he is waiting for an insurance adjuster to review his home before he can start the clean up process.
