The goose that ate WLBT (sort of)

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

WLBT lost power just before 8:30 Monday night, and the culprit was apparently a goose. The crew working in the newsroom heard what sounded like an explosion outside just as the power went out.

It appears that a goose out for an evening flight hit a transformer, knocking it, and us out of service. The goose was cooked, and we sat in the dark for approximately two hours.

Entergy responded quickly, and power was restored at 10:25. and WLBT returned to programming at 10:35 with Jay Leno.

Some of the after effects of that outage also impacted our morning news.

Everything appears to be back to normal now, and all programming should air as scheduled.
