Snake Day

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Slippery and slimy creatures took the spotlight at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science.

Mississippi's 55 snake species slithered around during the museum's annual "Snake Day" event. Crowds packed the museum theater to listen to biologist Bryan Frederick explain the difference between venomous and non-venomous snakes. Frederick also unraveled many myths associated with snakes.

Now, in addition to the snakes, you can also check out more than two dozen frogs from around the world in the museum's new "FROGS: Beyond Green," exhibit.

"It's nice to have an exhibit that comes through every once and awhile that shows you things from other parts of the world, so kids can look at what we have native here and compare it to what is found throughout the rest of the world," says Megan Sewall, special events coordinator for the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science.

"FROGS: Beyond Green" is on display until early next year.
