HAZLEHURST, MS (WLBT) - Hazlehurst senior outfielder Gabriel Gray was drafted as the 1,056 pick in the 35th round by the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.
As a senior, Gray led the Hazlehurst Indians with a .643 batting average, four homeruns and 39 RBI.
Gray also stole 44 bases in 47 attempts.
Gray signed a football scholarship with Alcorn State in February.
He has until August 15th to sign with the Royals.
Also in Day three, former Clinton Arrow and University of Memphis catcher Phillip Chapman was selected in the 35th round by the Minnesota Twins.
