The bright colors inside the farmers market are perfect this sunny Saturday for the Mississippi Farmers Market Summer Kickoff.
"This is our first time here," says Lana Byrd of Brandon. "We've gotten some tomatoes, blueberries, squash, and honey. I love it. Love homegrown vegetables so it's nice to have 'em fresh."
The vendors have a lot to offer. Richard Butler of Butler's Fresh Picks is one of them. "We're located between Florence and Brandon. Today we have sweet corn, tomatoes, peppers, a variety of produce, cut flowers, watermelon, you name it, we got it," he says.
They're also selling baked goods, including luscious muffins, cakes, and pies. Also artwork, jewelry, and more.
Will Godfrey works for Cooper Farms. "The farm is located in Morton," he says. Their stand sells more than produce. "This is muscadine juice. We have some jelly too," he says.
The Farmers Market will be open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. for the summer season.
