An ambulance dispatched to a west Jackson home for a routine medical call Sunday afternoon lead Jackson police to their latest homicide investigation.
J.P.D. investigators said A.M.R. received a call from a female asking for an ambulance to respond to Hillmont Drive.
Upon arrival paramedics found the door to the house open and only the victim inside the residence.
Police said 56-year-old Claude Garner was discovered dead from a gunshot wound to the back.
"AMR received a call earlier today around 1:32 to the 700 block of Hillmont in reference to a cardiac arrest. Once on scene they found a subject lying face down in the living room area. They then notified the police department," said J.P.D. Officer Colendula Green.
According to authorities, several people at the scene were taken to police headquarters for questioning.
No motive has been determined at this time.
