Posted: Updated:

The "pre" summer heat continues to roll on today as temps are expected to climb to the mid 90s with little resistance. Heat index numbers are likely to climb to near 100 and slight above that number after the 1pm lunch break.

Instability during the afternoon heating is a sure sign of summer time weather. However, the official start of summer is still a few days off. Overnight lows staying in the lower 70s. We seem to be stuck on this pattern for the next 5-8 days in a row.

Good news along the Mississippi River, the Vicksburg area is now putting the last of the business back in play. The Diamond Jack Casino is the last business to get back running full time following the flood of 2011. And that's when the level has now dropped to 44.4 feet. The flood stage of the Mississippi River in Vicksburg is 43 feet even.

In Greenville the River Flood warning has been allowed to expire since the levels has fallen below flood stage at 45.7 feet. However in Natchez the level is still above flood stage at 52.6 feet. The flood stage in Natchez is 48 feet.
