RUSTON, La. (AP) - Former Mississippi guard Trevor Gaskins has decided to pursue a graduate degree at Louisiana Tech with the hope of playing for the Bulldogs next season.
The 6-foot-2 guard has graduated from Ole Miss, and Louisiana Tech will seek a waiver from the NCAA requesting permission for him to play this year for first-year Bulldogs head coach Michael White, who was an assistant on Mississippi's staff while Gaskins played in Oxford.
Because he has played only three seasons but graduated on time, he expects to receive a waiver from the NCAA allowing him to play one more season at another school.
When players transfer, they normally must sit out a season, but that is not the case with Gaskins because he has graduated and is continuing his education.
