Excessive Heat Followed by Storms?

EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING for areas along the Mississippi River. HEAT ADVISORY for areas along the I-55 corridor.

For Monday dangerous heat kicks in with highs near 100. It will be extremely muggy, with heat indices between 105°-110° for most areas. For those of you along the Mississippi River, your heat indices may be as high as 110°-115°. You do not want to be out in that weather!

It's vital you seek refuge in air conditioned building and the shade. You will have to drink plenty of water and take breaks from exposure to the heat as much as possible.

By mid week the weather pattern will change with a higher chance of scattered showers and isolated t-storms. We may even see a random shower try to sneak in area by tonight.

Better chances of rain develop for Wednesday and Thursday; going up to 60% during the afternoon and evening hours.

It still looks like a slow-moving cold front will arrive the middle of week, bringing some of the best rain chances we've seen in months and also high temperatures about 10-15 cooler.
