Fireworks allowed during Copiah Co. burn ban

COPIAH COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Ten counties across the state have issued burn bans because of the extremely dry conditions and lack of rainfall this spring.

Despite the restrictions, the Copiah County Board of Supervisors approved the use of fireworks during the ban which remains in effect until July 31. That's according to Copiah County Emergency Management Agency Director Randle Drane.

But residents should be aware, if a wildfire starts as a result of fireworks, the user will be held responsible for paying for everything of value it burns.
