JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

One of WLBT's earliest employees has died. Chuck Allen passed away on Sunday.

Allen created the "Teen Tempos" dance program, a local version of "American Bandstand" that aired live from our studio in the 1950s and '60s. It was an immediate hit.

Later in life, Experience Works named Allen an "Outstanding Older Worker" while he was serving as a real-estate photographer for the Clarion-Ledger.

Allen last visited WLBT just a couple of months ago when the station opened its new newsroom. He was 94 years old.
