Vicksburg residents continue cleanup from devastating flood

Vicksburg officials are expecting FEMA to arrive sometime Thursday to begin damage assessment of the debris on the ground.

As residents continue to cleanup the mess left behind now that floodwaters have receded, they will also be looking to see how much of the debris contains hazardous waste.

Families in the Kings neighborhood are still assessing the damage to their homes.  Some received over four feet of water or more inside.  Mold is starting to grow up walls in several forms.

The county permit department says homeowners must obtain a permit before doing any construction over $500.00.

Letourneau Road south of Vicksburg was also opened this week. The oil rig platform construction company was forced to close during the flood, after waters rose above their worksite.
