There's a block party taking place in Jackson Thursday evening with free food, free entertainment and free STD testing.
The Jackson-Hinds Comprehensive Health Center is hosting the first "I'm Good...Health Awareness Block Party."
Starting at 5:30 p.m., the community is invited down to the center to take advantage of free and confidential STD screenings.
Mississippi ranks number one in the nation for STDs like chlamydia and gonorrhea. Health experts hope free screenings like the ones offered will help educate the public.
Rita Gordon, a nurse practitioner with the Jackson-Hinds Comprehensive Health Center says, "I believe an empowered people make better choices, so get in, get the information. I think that if we can educate the people that come out, they can take the information to the community at large and maybe we can make a difference in what we look like as a state."
Entertainment, including a fashion show and music will take place while the testing is going on.
