NRA endorses Phil Bryant for governor

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Republican candidate for governor Phil Bryant received a major endorsement Thursday from one of the nation's most well-known organizations.

The National Rifle Association's Political Victory Fund pledge their support of Bryant's campaign for governor at the State Capitol.

Bryant is a lifetime member of the NRA and a former law enforcement officer. He says, as a gun owner and defender of the 2nd amendment -- the right to bear arms, he believes the work of the NRA is critical in protecting our freedom.

"We just think based on the relationship and his commitment on the local level to support the right to keep and bear arms by his involvement with the Central Texas Friends of the NRA Committee," said Tara Mica, state liaison for the NRA in Austin, Texas.

The NRA is the oldest civil rights and sportsmen's group in America.

The primary election will be held August 2. The general election is November 8.
